Julia Parton, our club President for the 2023-24 year, is a long term member of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Club and a Past President.

Julia, born in San Diego and raised in Palos Verdes, is a graduate of Rolling Hills High School and California State University, Dominguez Hills.  She has spent her entire career working in the South Bay and has over 30 years of expertise and experience in managing staff, marketing, and community relations.

Julia has worked for various South Bay media publications and has served as Business Development Director for the Daily Breeze and publisher of the Palos Verdes Peninsula News.  Highly regarded in the community for her public service, Julia enjoys giving back to the community and currently serves on several boards in the community, including PVPHS Athletic Booster Club, PV Juniors, Toberman Neighborhood Center, Peninsula Seniors, and Switzer Learning Center.

Beyond work and volunteering, Julia is a second-generation Rotarian. Her father, Jim Parton, was president of the Manhattan Beach Rotary Club and long-time member of the Rotary Club of Palos Verdes Peninsula. Julia considers family the most important thing in her life. She has two sisters and a brother. Her parents have both passed. She and her wonderful husband, Richard, have two sons – and she is extremely proud of both! Edward, 23, just finished his college baseball career and is entering his second year of grad school in Dubuque, Iowa. Edward received his undergrad degree in criminal justice and his graduate degree is Management. He is interning with the DEA this summer. James, 21, will be entering his senior year (accounting major) at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management program. James is interning at Clifton Larson Anderson accounting agency in Minneapolis. Family trips, family gatherings, baseball, being with friends all brings happiness to Julia.

Being a Rotarian is important work. I look forward to this year - to get to work, have fun, and continue to grow the relationships I have with my Rotary family and to make new friends along the way.
